How to check an Isofix base recall separately from the car seat

Why would a recall name the Isofix base and not the seat?

A click-in carrier and its base are often sold and labelled as two products. OPSS files them under baby car or booster seats, but the Product information table can list only the base. If you search the toddler or infant-carrier name, you can miss a base-only record.

The Maxi-Cosi FamilyFix Slide Pro Base notice (2605-0109), published 28 May 2026, is a base-only product recall. The hazard on that record is a visual indicator on the base. The matching fields are the base item reference and the base manufacture-date range — not the name of the seat you clip on.

Official records show owners are advised to stop using the FamilyFix Slide Pro base immediately and to use the Maxi-Cosi checker named on the notice. That is the OPSS wording for that product, not a verdict on the carrier used with it.

Which? reports the FamilyFix Slide Pro label sits underneath the base and shows the date and reference number. The brand checker asks for a 10-digit product model reference (Ref) and the manufacturing date (Date).

How do I check the base without mixing it up with the seat?

Unclip the seat from the base Leave the base in the car or take it out so you can see the underside. Do not rely on the carrier’s orange label for the base check.
Photograph the base label Copy the item reference, serial and any manufacture date exactly. Which? describes the FamilyFix Slide Pro date and reference on the label underneath the base.
Search GOV.UK for the base product name On the OPSS list, search the base name (for example FamilyFix Slide Pro) and the item reference. Open the Product information table and compare dates and refs.
Run the checker only if the notice names it The FamilyFix record points to Maxi-Cosi’s “Check your product” page and to John Lewis recalls for units sold there. A “not affected” screen is that brand’s match for that notice — still keep the GOV.UK tab.

If the car seat has no recall on file, is the base in the clear?

No listing for the seat means no recall on file for that seat. It does not speak to the base. The FamilyFix Slide Pro notice does not ask you to match a Coral, Pebble or Pearl name. The BeSafe 2020 notice described a problem only in the seat-to-base pairing for named iZi Go X1 serials — a different product and a different year.

Read the corrective action line on the matching notice. For FamilyFix Slide Pro, OPSS says the product has been recalled from end users by Maxi-Cosi and John Lewis, and that owners should stop using it immediately, then use the brand checker. Do not copy a refund or belt-install step from another brand’s story onto this base.
