Terms of use

These terms govern your use of MayTally. Read them with the Disclaimer and, when it is published, the Privacy notice. Official government pages always take precedence over this site.

1. Who we are

MayTally is an information website for parents and parents-to-be in the United Kingdom. It helps you see government support you may be missing, and check second-hand baby products against official recall records.

In these terms, we, us and our mean RETRETO NEXT LIMITED, the operator of the MayTally website. You means anyone who visits or uses the site, including any embedded calculator widget.

RETRETO NEXT LIMITED is registered in England and Wales. Company number 15166864. VAT number GB 493 7070 67. Registered office: Office 8929, 182-184 High Street North, East Ham, London, United Kingdom, E6 2JA. The same operator details appear on the About page. These terms apply whether you use the site on a phone, a computer, or a third-party page that embeds our widget.

2. What this site is — and is not

MayTally provides general information and guidance. It is not a government service and it is not a substitute for GOV.UK, HMRC, the Department for Work and Pensions, the NHS, a local authority, or a regulated adviser.

We are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Nothing on this site is:

  • financial advice, investment advice, or a personal recommendation
  • tax advice
  • legal advice
  • immigration advice
  • medical or clinical advice
  • a decision, award, or determination by any public body

Using the site does not create a client, advisory, or fiduciary relationship between you and us.

If anything on MayTally differs from an official source, the official source is the one that counts.

3. The benefits calculator

The calculator produces estimates from the answers you give and from published rules for a named tax year (currently 2026-27 unless a page says otherwise).

An estimate can be wrong or incomplete if:

  • your answers are incomplete, guessed, or out of date
  • your household, working hours, or childcare costs change
  • a Budget, statutory instrument, or local scheme changes a rate or a rule after we last checked a source
  • your situation is one the engine does not yet model (for example some no-recourse-to-public-funds, adoption, kinship, or split-household cases)
  • you live in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland and a devolved scheme applies instead of, or as well as, an England-facing rule

Figures shown as pounds per year, per week, or as free hours are not a guarantee that you will be awarded that amount or those hours. Do not rely on a MayTally figure when you decide whether to claim, whether to stop a claim, or how to treat the High Income Child Benefit Charge.

Check the linked GOV.UK (or other official) page before you apply. If you need advice on tax, benefits, or a regulated product, use a suitably authorised person.

Where the calculator runs in your browser, income figures you type are used to produce an estimate on your device. If you choose to save a result or ask for an email reminder, the Privacy notice explains what we keep.

4. Product safety and second-hand checks

Safety pages report what official records show. Depending on the item, that may include recalls and alerts from the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) on GOV.UK product recalls and alerts, the EU Safety Gate, and, where a page says so, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

We do not:

  • test, certify, approve, or recall products ourselves
  • inspect an item you are buying or already own
  • say that an item is safe to use
  • replace the manufacturer's instructions or a registered healthcare professional

A result with no matching recall is not a clean bill of health. Records can be incomplete, delayed, withdrawn, or listed under a different brand, model, batch, or GTIN. You remain responsible for identifying the item (including the nameplate), inspecting it, and deciding whether to buy or use it.

Nameplate guides are information to help you read a label. Phase 1 does not read photographs for you.

5. Your responsibilities

You agree to:

  • use the site for your own information, or to help your own household
  • check official sources before you apply for a benefit or buy, sell, or use a product
  • give answers that are true to the best of your knowledge if you use the calculator
  • not treat a MayTally page as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional where you need one

If you act on information from this site, you do so at your own discretion.

6. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use the site in a way that is unlawful, misleading, or harmful
  • attempt to break, overload, or bypass a limit on the service
  • scrape the site in a way that impairs it for other people (ordinary search-engine indexing is fine)
  • present MayTally pages, estimates, or widgets as a government service or as regulated advice
  • upload or send us personal information about someone else unless you are allowed to
  • use the site to file automated claims or to submit applications to government departments in our name

We may suspend or restrict access if we reasonably believe these rules have been broken.

7. Intellectual property

The site design, our wording, and our arrangement of publicly available rules are ours or our licensors'. You may quote short extracts with a link back to the page you quoted. You may not copy the calculator, our datasets, or substantial parts of the site to run a competing service without permission.

Government content we quote or link to remains Crown copyright or the relevant department's copyright, and is used under the terms of that source.

8. Third-party sites and the widget

We link to GOV.UK, NHS sites, local authorities, marketplaces, and other sites we do not control. Those sites have their own terms and privacy notices. We are not responsible for their content, or for what happens if you apply, buy, or create an account there.

If another site embeds our calculator widget, these terms still apply to the MayTally part.

Some pages may include affiliate links or commercial offers (for example deals, or mentions of children's savings products). If you buy through an affiliate link we may earn a commission. That does not change the price you pay, and it is not a personal recommendation. Where a page carries a disclosure, that disclosure applies.

Mentions of Junior ISAs or other savings products are general information. We are not authorised to advise on investments.

10. Liability

We provide the site as is. We work to keep rules and recall records current, but we do not warrant that the site is complete, accurate, or uninterrupted.

We are not liable for:

  • a benefit being refused, reduced, delayed, overpaid, or recovered
  • tax, a High Income Child Benefit Charge, a penalty, or a change of circumstances you did not report
  • a purchase, a second-hand item, or loss arising from a product
  • decisions you make after reading an estimate or a safety result

This does not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that UK law does not allow us to exclude.

If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

11. Changes

Benefit rules, rates, and recall records change. We may update the site and these terms. The date at the top of this page is the date of the current version. If you keep using the site after a change, the new terms apply to that later use.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your home courts.

Devolved benefit and product-safety rules still apply to you in the nation where you live. A page written with England in mind is not a determination of your position in Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland.
