Boots Parenting Club vs Superdrug Health and Beautycard for a baby shop

What is the difference on a nappy-and-toiletries shop?

Which? (updated 6 May 2026) puts Boots and Superdrug in the same health-and-beauty comparison: Boots standard earning 3 points per £1, Parenting Club 8 points per £1 on baby products, Superdrug 1 point per £1 with redeem in multiples of 100. Retailer terms checked the same week as this page agree on those headline rates. Neither Which? nor the CMA picks a winner for nappies.

Can I part-pay nappies with points at either till?

Superdrug: yes, in £1 steps. Beautycard terms say points are spent in increments of 100, and give the worked case of 200 points against a £1.49 line: 100 points come off and £0.49 is still due. Which? uses a similar mixed-tender example. That is why a half-built Superdrug balance is still usable on wipes.

Boots: no. Advantage Card terms: you must have enough points to cover the product; you cannot make a partial payment of points towards a product or service. Which? repeats the same full-cover rule (199 points buy a £1.99 line; they do not chip a £10 pack). A Parenting Club 8-points haul still sits behind that spend rule.

Paying a Boots shop entirely with points also drops club extras on that transaction: terms say you do not collect Parenting Club extra points when you pay with points.

Which card has baby-stage free gifts?

Only Boots publishes a Parenting Club gift path: load a stage-targeted tile in the Boots app, collect from a Parenting Club unit, staffed till, one per customer. Superdrug's nearest extra is the VIP Rewards spend ladder in the Superdrug app — bonus points at £25, an own-brand trial product at £75, a delivery perk at £150, VIP at £300 or via Superdrug Mobile (current Beautycard terms). Those trials are beauty minis Superdrug lists, not a pregnancy welcome pack.

Both cards exclude infant milk formula from points. Both have member-only prices on rotating lines. Which? found examples at Boots and Superdrug where a non-member price had not sat at that level for most of the previous six months — the CMA's November 2024 groceries review looked at the same "is the saving genuine?" question for supermarkets. Read the shelf sticker; do not treat a member price as a fixed baby-budget line.

What should I check before treating either card as cash off nappies?

  • The earn rate on the receipt, not a blog total. MayTally is not adding up a weekly nappy shop into a pound figure — shelf prices and which SKUs sit in Boots' baby-area set change.
  • Whether the Boots card is linked if you order nappies on boots.com. Unlinked checkout drops you to the standard 3-points rate.
  • Whether Superdrug points have activated. You can earn on an unregistered card; you cannot spend until Superdrug says the account is live.
  • Student overlap at Boots. Parenting Club plus Student Discount is published as 10% and 3 points per £1, not 8.
  • Expiry. Boots removes points on registered cards unused for one year. Superdrug points expire 24 months after they are added.

In shortNeed baby-stage gifts and an 8-points baby-area rate? That is Boots Parenting Club. Need to chip £1 lumps off a mixed Superdrug basket? That is Beautycard. They are not interchangeable parenting clubs.

Questions parents ask

If I only buy nappies, is 8 Boots points always better than 1 Superdrug point?
Eight points per £1 is 8p in the pound on selected Boots baby-area lines; Superdrug is 1p in the pound on qualifying lines. Shelf price, member-only stickers and whether the Boots SKU sits in the baby-area set can wipe that gap. Compare the till total, not the earn rate alone.
Can I use both cards in the same week?
Yes. They are separate retailers. Holding both does not merge points and does not create a Superdrug parenting club.
Does Price Advantage change the Parenting Club comparison?
Price Advantage is a paid Boots add-on Which? describes separately (£20 a year in the 6 May 2026 article). It is not required to join Parenting Club. This page compares the free Parenting Club rate with the free Beautycard.
Is there an official saving figure for a typical baby shop?
No. Boots and Superdrug publish point rates and exclusions, not a nappy-shop cash total. MayTally is not inventing one.
