Where is the manufacture date on a Joie ISOFIX base?

Is the date on the carrier the same as the date on the base?

No. A Joie i-Gemm, i-Snug, i-Juva or similar carrier can outlive one base, and a base can outlive one carrier. Each part keeps its own model, serial and production date. Child Car Seats wants the manufacturer's instructions for the restraint you are using — for a click-and-go system that means two booklets if Joie supplied two.

Where do I look on a Joie i-Base or i-Anchor?

   Take the carrier off the base You need a clear view of the base plastic, the support-leg housing and the ISOFIX arms. Work on the floor, not on a vehicle seat, so you can tip the base.

   Photograph the whole underside Joie production labels on car-seat products are routinely placed underneath. Look for a sticker with MODEL, SERIAL and DATE (year / month / day on some regional labels). The orange or white UN approval label is the E-mark, not the production date.

   Check the support-leg tunnel and ISOFIX-arm pockets If the main panel is empty, look along the load-leg housing and inside the arm channels. Dust and road grit hide small stickers.

   Copy the model code before you download a PDF i-Base, i-Base Advance, i-Base lx 2, i-Base Encore and i-Anchor / i-Anchor Advance are different products. Joie's GL manuals (for example the i-Base and i-Base Advance PDFs) are model-specific.

   Read the UK or GL booklet for that base The official i-Base + infant carrier manual includes a 5 years after the purchase date warning for that infant child restraint. Confirm whether your newer base PDF repeats, replaces or omits that sentence. Do not paste a US Base-AR line (7 years after original purchase, manufacture if purchase unknown) onto a UK i-Base.

Can I use a US Joie base manual for a UK i-Base?

No. US Joie base booklets describe LATCH installation, US registration cards and US expiry sentences. The UK product is approved to UN R129 or ECE R44 and is fitted to ISOFIX points under GOV.UK child car seat rules. A US sentence that says "if the original purchase date is unknown, use the manufacture date on the base" is US wording, not a UK statutory rule.

If your UK receipt is missing, photograph the underside sticker and ask Joie UK customer care which date they want for that model. Joie's UK FAQ is the public UK starting point; the PDF named on the sticker is the instruction that applies.

Does the base get its own year limit?

Sometimes the infant-restraint booklet covers carrier and base together; sometimes a later base has its own PDF. Either way, the dated sticker on the base is what identifies that base in a batch or a customer-care email. Whether the years run from purchase or from manufacture is a separate question — and the answer is model-specific.

RoSPA notes UK seats are not printed with an expiry date. A blank underside is not an all-clear; it is a missing production mark. Child Car Seats already treats missing instructions as a reason not to accept a second-hand restraint.
