How do I link my Advantage Card to boots.com for Parenting Club points online?
Do online points and free gifts follow the same rule?
No. Boots splits the two, and some round-ups blur them. The Parenting Club FAQ “How do I get Parenting Club points and offers online?” says you must have linked your Advantage Card with your boots.com account and be logged in. It then says Parenting Club app offers and points apply to your basket at checkout.
The free-gift terms on the same page say gifts are redeemed in-store only and not at self-serve. The Advantage Card terms add a third line: extra offers and gifts “take the form of coupons to be redeemed in-store or online”, with further conditions on each coupon. That is why a blog that says “free gifts work online” is not a rule you can take to checkout.

How do I link the Advantage Card to boots.com?
Use the steps on Boots' Advantage Card help. A plastic card with a CVV under the scratch panel is registered, not merely “added”.
- Log in or create a boots.com account Points are not collected on guest orders. Boots' online-points FAQ is explicit: you must be signed in with a linked card.
- Open Add my Advantage Card From the account menu, choose Add my Advantage Card (or Manage my Advantage Card if a digital card is already there).
- Enter the full card number with no spaces For a card without a CVV, Boots then asks whether this is your Advantage Card and asks for your date of birth.
- Register a new plastic card if it has a CVV Scratch the grey panel, enter the 19-digit number, the 3-digit CVV and your date of birth, then submit. Unregistered plastic cards can be cleared after 12 months.
- Link the same login in the Boots app New to the app: Add My Card, full number, date of birth. Already in the app with the wrong card: More → Advantage Card → remove, then add the correct number.
- Join Parenting Club on that account My Advantage Card → clubs → Parenting Club → Join now. Enter a due date or a child under five. The 8-points flag is a club setting, not something the link step switches on by itself.
Digital and plastic cards on one account have different numbers. The app shows the digital number. Points still sit on the same account if both cards are linked.
Why are the 8 points missing on a boots.com baby order?
- You checked out as a guest. Boots says online points need a signed-in account with the card linked at the time of purchase. They are not added later for a guest basket.
- Parenting Club is not recognised on the login. The FAQ “I’m not receiving my 8 points… online” tells you to check the account shows club membership, then email [email protected].
- The 8-points offer is still activating. The Parenting Club FAQ says 8 points can apply within 24 hours. The Advantage Card terms say activation within 72 hours. A same-day order can miss the flag.
- The line is excluded. Infant milk up to six months, prescriptions, gift cards and bundles are outside the 8-points baby offer. See infant formula and Parenting Club points.
- You paid with points. Advantage Card terms say you do not collect Parenting Club extra points when you pay with points.
Online points from a charged order are uploaded within five days of dispatch, not at the moment you click pay. Check the Advantage Card balance after that window before assuming the link failed.
Can I redeem a Parenting Club free gift in an online basket?
Only if that offer’s own wording says so. The Parenting Club free-gift terms still say gifts are in-store only. The FAQ on collecting gifts names a Parenting Club store, a unit in-store, and a customer adviser at a till. Self-serve is excluded.
If a coupon in the app shows an online checkbox, follow that coupon, not a generic “Baby Club” article. If it does not, take the loaded offer to a Parenting Club store.
In shortLink the card, stay logged in, and treat 8 points as the online benefit Boots actually describes. Treat free gifts as in-store unless the specific offer T&Cs say otherwise.
Questions parents ask
- Does guest checkout ever collect Parenting Club points?
- Boots says you can only earn Advantage Card points online when you are signed in and the card is linked. There is no official route to add Parenting Club points after a guest order.
- The app says the card is already linked, but boots.com does not.
- Digital and plastic numbers differ. Link the card on boots.com under Add my Advantage Card or Manage my Advantage Card, then sign into the app with the same login. If both sides disagree, email [email protected] with the card number.
- How long after linking should 8 points appear online?
- Linking the card is immediate. The club’s 8-points flag is separate: the FAQ says within 24 hours of joining Parenting Club; the Advantage Card terms say within 72 hours. Points from an online order then show within five days of dispatch.
- A deal site says free gifts work online. Is that official?
- Not as a blanket rule. Boots’ free-gift terms say in-store only. A different clause says some coupons can be in-store or online with extra conditions on the coupon. Read the offer in the app.
