Can nan collect an Emma's Diary pack with my voucher barcode?
Does Emma's Diary ask the store for ID?
The official collection copy does not. Emma's Diary's gift-pack page (checked 10 September 2026) lists four steps: join the Parenting Club, download or print the voucher or open the barcode in the app, visit Argos or Boots, scan, and take the pack. The same page says there are two packs — Mum-to-Be from early pregnancy, and Bump-to-Baby from week 27 — and that contents can vary.
Nothing in that walkthrough asks the assistant to match the shopper to the name on the account. The till job is a readable barcode. If the code will not scan, a printed voucher from the website login is the fallback Emma's Diary itself describes.

Bounty's app FAQ tells people without a compatible phone to ask a family member to download that app onto their device to collect a Mum-to-be pack. Emma's Diary's published route includes a website print-out, so a relative's phone is not the only option.
How can nan take the voucher without taking the login?
- Join and open the voucher on mum's account Use mum's email and the address that should own posted samples. Collection in store does not move that address.
- Export only the barcode Print the voucher from the website, or photograph the app barcode so the code is readable. Send that image or paper. Do not send the password.
- Tell nan which pack and which shop Mum-to-Be or Bump-to-Baby (from week 27). Emma's Diary names Argos and Boots. If a store cannot scan a photo, the printed voucher is the official alternative.
- Keep the Preference Centre on mum's login Emma's Diary's data FAQs put third-party options in the Profile Preference Centre (or the app Preferences). That screen belongs with the person who joined, not with the person at the till.
This page does not describe opening a second Emma's Diary account, and it does not describe collecting the same pack twice.
What happens if the app is on nan's phone?
Then her handset holds the session. Push notifications, a saved password, and a linked Apple or Google account can all sit on a device she unlocks every day. Partner and email ticks made inside that app are still mum's membership if it is mum's login — but they are being confirmed on someone else's phone, which is the same shape of problem as a relative ticking consent without the member seeing the wording.
The ICO's valid consent page says a third party may indicate consent only with authority, and the individual must have been informed. A live app on nan's phone makes it easy to tap those boxes in a shop queue. A print-out does not.
In shortIn short: the till needs a barcode, not ID. Print or screenshot the voucher for nan. Installing the app on her phone, or handing over the password, is how marketing consent and the Preference Centre wander onto a device she owns.
Questions parents ask
- The barcode on my screenshot will not scan. What then?
- Emma's Diary's own steps include downloading or printing the voucher from the website after you log in. A paper voucher is the published fallback when a photo is too dim or cropped.
- Does Argos or Boots ask for the Emma's Diary login?
- The club's collection copy describes scanning the voucher or app barcode. It does not describe staff logging into the account. If a store invents extra checks, that is shop practice, not the published club walkthrough.
- Can I leave the app logged in on nan's phone 'just for this pack'?
- You can, but then her device holds the session. Partner ticks and address changes become a tap on her screen. A print-out avoids that. Do not create a second membership to solve a barcode problem.
- Bounty told us to use a relative's phone. Is Emma's Diary the same?
- Bounty's app FAQ (no smartphone / older OS) suggests a family device when the app will not install, and says hospital packs can still be handed over without the app. Emma's Diary also publishes a website print route, so a relative's phone is optional rather than required.
