Can I get a council nappy voucher for twins?

Is the voucher per baby, capped at two, or one per household?

Twins searches bounce because councils write three different caps. None of them is a hidden “twins bonus”. If the page is silent on multiples, do not invent a second code.

Dorset Council is one claim per baby. That is a per-baby rule, so twins are two possible claims if both children meet the age and residency tests — still not a special twins top-up, and Dorset’s 2026–27 intake is capped at 300 applications for the whole scheme.

What extra proof does RNFL want for twins or triplets?

For a single baby, RNFL accepts a MatB1, NHS prescription charge card, birth certificate or hospital scan report. For multiple births, the apply page says to provide your hospital scan report letter as the pregnancy or birth proof.

You still send proof of identity and a recent proof of address as well. The scan letter is the extra line that lets them issue one voucher per baby rather than treating the household as a single application. Triplets follow the same scan-letter rule; RNFL does not publish a different triplets form.

RNFL processes a file only when every supporting document is in. Two babies means two voucher records, not one email with “twins” in the subject and a single code.

How do I apply for twins without wasting a second form?

  1. Read the household cap first If the council is a one-per-household scheme, stop at one form. If it is a max-two scheme, two forms is the published ceiling. If it is RNFL, plan one file per baby.
  2. Gather the multiples proof the scheme names RNFL: hospital scan report letter. Rochdale and Torfaen: proof of entitlement may be requested — have the scan or both birth certificates ready. Do not send original certificates by post unless the page says to.
  3. Use the same qualifying address on every form Delivery and residency checks still apply. A second baby does not let you ship to a relative.
  4. Redeem each code on that scheme’s purchase rule RNFL is one purchase per voucher. Rochdale’s Nappy Lady code can be used across multiple orders. Two RNFL codes are two separate one-purchase events, not a combined trolley unless the supplier confirms they can lock both.

Can I ask for a twins top-up if the household cap is one?

Not on the pages we checked. Buckinghamshire Recycles states one voucher per household per year. Rochdale and Torfaen already write twins into a maximum of two. RNFL’s extra is proof, not extra pounds above the borough value.

If your council has no scheme, the Nappy Alliance list of reusable nappy schemes is a directory, not a grant. A second baby does not create a national twins payment.

Questions parents ask

We have twins plus an older baby still in nappies. Can we have three Rochdale vouchers?
Rochdale’s published cap is a maximum of two vouchers (£60) per household each year, with twins or siblings under 18 months given as the example. A third child is outside that wording. Ask Rochdale or The Nappy Lady only if your facts do not match the page — do not assume a third code.
Do I send RNFL one scan letter or two applications?
The apply page asks for the hospital scan report letter when you apply for multiple births, and it also says vouchers are issued per baby. Expect two voucher records once both files are complete. If the form only allows one baby name, submit the second baby as a second application and attach the same scan letter.
Are identical twins treated differently from fraternal twins?
No published scheme we checked splits twins by type. The tests are residency, baby age, household cap and the named proof. The scan letter is about showing more than one baby, not about chorionicity.
Does a higher RNFL borough value double for twins?
No. The borough value (for example £70 or £50 on the apply page, checked 10 September 2026) is the value of each voucher. Two babies can mean two vouchers at that borough’s figure. It is not one voucher at double the amount.
