Why does a house move break a nappy voucher?

Two checks sit on most codes, and they are easy to mix up.

• Residency — RNFL terms say you must still be living in the participating borough at the time of redeeming. Leaving that borough before you spend the code is enough for the scheme to treat the voucher as no longer valid.
• Delivery address — RNFL’s redeem page says the delivery address should be the same address as on the voucher. Nappy Lady pages for council codes such as Torfaen go further: the delivery address must match the application address, “no exceptions”, and it is manually checked when the order is processed.

A move inside the same borough can still fail the second test even if you remain a resident. The shop is matching lines on a form, not guessing that you are still in Hackney or Torfaen.

There is no published transfer process that moves a live voucher from one council to another. If the move has already happened, write to the issuing scheme with the old and new addresses. Do not invent a “please ship to mum” workaround at checkout.

What does Real Nappies for London do if I leave the borough?

RNFL’s terms and redeem page repeat the same line: the voucher is only valid while you remain a resident of the borough listed on it. Staff or the supplier may ask for identification or current proof of address when you use it.

If you applied while pregnant at address A and will give birth at address B in another borough, the code is still an RNFL instrument for borough A. Spending it after you have left is what the terms warn against. Contact [email protected] or 020 3150 2023 before the shop tries to lock the code.

A partner who stayed in the issuing borough can be the applicant if that is whose name and proof of address went on the form. RNFL says the application must be made by the person who lives in the participating borough when parents live apart.

What should I do if I have already moved?

   Read the address printed on the voucher If it still matches where the parcel would land *and* you still live in the issuing area, redeem as normal. Keep current proof of address handy.

   If only the street changed inside the same council Ask the issuing scheme whether they can update the record before you order. A Nappy Lady council checkout that says “no exceptions” will not accept a typed-in new street even when the postcode district looks similar.

   If you left the issuing borough or county Email the scheme that issued the code. Ask whether the voucher is void, whether it can be cancelled, and whether the new council runs its own offer. Do not assume a transfer.

   Find the new council’s page GOV.UK — Find your local council for the new address. Apply there only if that scheme exists and you still meet its baby-age and residency rules. A second application is a new decision, not a continuation of the old code.

The shop refused a different delivery address. Can I collect instead?

RNFL allows in-person redeem at a demonstration or a listed retailer’s shop if you take identity evidence and show the e-voucher. That can help when you still live at the voucher address and want to carry the nappies home. It does not rewrite a voucher that is already void because you left the borough.

For Nappy Lady council codes, the published rule is about the order delivery address matching the application. Collection only works if that shop’s own process still ties the order to the qualifying address — ask them in writing before you travel.
