How do I subscribe to OPSS product recall emails in the UK?

Where is the official OPSS email signup?

On GOV.UK, not on a retailer blog. The form lives at Product Safety Alerts, Reports and Recalls emails. The list page itself (/product-safety-alerts-reports-recalls) also shows Get emails and Subscribe to feed.

The 7 April 2022 launch note said the new pages would let people search past notices, filter by product category, risk level, measure type, date and type of alert, and subscribe to instant, daily or weekly updates. Which? and RoSPA welcomed that launch.

How do I subscribe, step by step?

   Tick the alert types you want The form lists three boxes: Product safety alert, Product safety report, and Product recall. Tick all three unless you have a reason to drop one — a “recall-only” tick will miss reports and category alerts.

   Continue and enter your email Complete the GOV.UK email steps as shown. Confirm via the message GOV.UK sends if the form asks you to.

   Optionally add the list feed On the main list page, use Subscribe to feed if you want a feed reader as well as inbox mail. That is a second official channel, not a third-party digest.

This is a government mailing list, not a MayTally checker and not a brand-level register. It will not invent a notice for your serial.

What is the difference between email and the list feed?

Email is the inbox route the signup page creates. Frequency options (instant, daily or weekly) are described on the 2022 launch note. The list page's Subscribe to feed is a machine-readable feed of the same official list. Neither one replaces a search of kit you already own, and neither one is a manufacturer registration.

Will the emails name my brand automatically?

The signup page filters by alert type, not by the brand on your pram or monitor. You still have to read each mail and match identifiers against labels at home. A weekly digest that never mentions your brand can still include a category alert that applies to a product type you own.

For brand-level contact, register the product with the manufacturer as well. GOV.UK staying-safe guidance treats that as a separate channel.

What does a subscription not do?

• It does not clear kit you already own. Not in today's email is not an all-clear.
• It does not cover food, medicines or vehicles. Those sit on other registers.
• It does not replace the maker writing to registered owners.
• It does not let you upload a notice. Consumers still report via the nation routes.
