Is Tesco Aldi Price Match on Fred and Flo the same per nappy as Aldi Mamia?

What does Tesco Aldi Price Match actually match?

It matches a selling price, not a printed pence-per-nappy promise. Tesco's groceries terms describe a supermarket price match: selected Tesco products against comparable Aldi groceries or identical branded lines. Own-brand matches are reviewed by Tesco's technical teams for the same intended need. Prices are checked in Aldi stores and/or online twice a week in England, Wales and Scotland.

  • Promotions are excluded. Tesco says it does not match Aldi promotional prices. If Mamia is on a yellow Aldi deal this week, Fred & Flo can stay on the last non-promo match.
  • Pro rata by size. Tesco says the product's size is taken into account and prices are matched pro rata. That should move the Tesco pack total when counts differ — it is still worth reading both £/each lines.
  • The list moves. Matched products vary by week and by store. A Fred & Flo nappy that showed the red flash last Tuesday can drop off.
  • Express is a thinner list. Tesco's 2026 groceries wording puts the full match in selected larger stores and only a selected everyday set in Express. Northern Ireland Tesco stores are outside the scheme.

Tesco's published small print (checked against the groceries Aldi Price Match page wording used in April 2026 ads) states that Aldi checks are in Great Britain and that the scheme is not offered in Northern Ireland stores. Use Tesco's terms for where the flash applies, then still compare £/each.

Why a matched pack total is not the same as matching pence per nappy?

Parents get caught when Tesco's on-shelf count is not Aldi's on-shelf count. A Fred & Flo 40-pack and a Mamia 48- or 84-pack can carry similar bag prices after a match and still differ by a penny or more each. The Price Marking Order's unit price — the VAT-inclusive price for one item when goods are sold by number — is the line that makes that visible.

Pack-count trap — illustrative arithmetic, not this week's match
PackSelling price (example)CountPence per nappyWhat a 'matched' bag price hides
Fred & Flo size 4, smaller Tesco count£2.89407.2pBag price looks 'matched' to Aldi
Mamia size 4, standard Aldi count£2.89486.0pSame £2.89, lower pence
Mamia size 4, jumbo Aldi count£5.04846.0pDearer bag, same pence as the 48
Fred & Flo size 4, 48-count (if that is the matched SKU)£2.89486.0pThis is the comparison the flash is aiming at
Teaching sums. Tesco.com showed Fred & Flo Ultra Dry size 4 (48) at £2.89 / £0.06 each with an Aldi Price Match flash, and a size 4+ jumbo 78 at £4.99 / £0.06 each, on 10 September 2026. Which? found Aldi Mamia, Tesco Fred & Flo and several other own-brand size-4 48-packs clustered near £2.89–£2.91 (about 6.1p) as averages for 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024. Re-read both tickets this week.

How do I compare Fred & Flo with Mamia on £/each this week?

  1. Confirm the flash is on that Fred & Flo barcode The red Aldi Price Match bubble is SKU-specific. Pants, plus sizes and jumbo boxes are different lines. Tesco has put some Fred & Flo baby lines in the scheme (including easy-fit pants in past expansions); that does not put every nappy size on the list.
  2. Copy Tesco selling price, count and £/each Use the price you will pay. Clubcard is a separate yellow price and is not the Aldi match unless the ticket says so.
  3. Copy Aldi Mamia selling price, count and £/1 Each Aldi's brand page and shelf tickets print (£0.xx/1 Each) next to the pack count. Same size, same style (tapes or pants), same plus versus standard.
  4. Compare the two unit prices, not the two bag totals If Tesco is 6p and Aldi is 6p, the match has landed per nappy as well as per bag. If the bag totals match and the counts do not, the pence will split.

Which Fred & Flo packs sit outside the match?

  • Northern Ireland Tesco stores. Tesco's terms exclude NI. Do not expect the flash or the GB matched price.
  • Most Express bays. Only a selected everyday set is matched in Express; jumbo Fred & Flo often is not on the shelf at all.
  • Lines Tesco dropped that week. The twice-weekly review can take a nappy off the list. No flash means no claim that the selling price tracks Aldi.
  • Aldi promotions. A Mamia jumbo on a short Aldi deal is the price Tesco says it will not follow.
  • Branded Tesco nappies. Pampers on Clubcard is not Aldi Price Match. That is a loyalty selling price, compared in a separate way.

Which?'s year to June 2024 is the useful historical cluster: Aldi Mamia Baby Dry size 4, Tesco Fred & Flo Ultra Dry size 4, Lidl Lupilu, Sainsbury's Little Ones and Baby Ocado all averaged about 6.1p on a 48-pack, with Asda Little Angels a tenth of a penny higher. That shows own-brand bag prices can sit together. It does not freeze this week's match, and it does not cover a Tesco 40-count next to an Aldi 84.

So is Price Match the same per nappy as Mamia?

In shortIn short: only when the matched Fred & Flo SKU and the Mamia SKU share the same size, style and pence after you divide each selling price by its count. The scheme matches a GB selling price twice a week, pro rata, and skips Aldi promotions and Northern Ireland. Read £/each on both tickets. A red flash on a 40-count pack beside an Aldi 48 or 84 is the trap.

Questions parents ask

Does Tesco match Aldi's jumbo Mamia count?
Only if that jumbo (or a pro-rata equivalent) is the comparable product Tesco has chosen for that Fred & Flo barcode this week. Tesco says size is considered pro rata. You still check Tesco £/each against Aldi £/1 Each, because the on-shelf counts can differ.
Is Aldi Price Match in Tesco Express?
Tesco's 2026 groceries wording says a selected range of everyday products can be matched in Express, not the full larger-store list. Fred & Flo jumbo nappies are often an Extra / Superstore / online line. Look for the red flash on that ticket; do not assume it.
Why is there no match in Northern Ireland?
Tesco's published terms say it checks Aldi prices in England, Wales and Scotland and does not run the scheme in NI stores. That is Tesco's rule for the flash, not a MayTally finding about where Aldi trades. Compare NI Tesco and NI Aldi tickets on £/each if both are in your town.
Does Price Match beat a Tesco Clubcard Pampers deal?
They are different mechanisms. Price Match is a Fred & Flo (or other selected) selling price versus Aldi. Clubcard is a loyalty selling price on whatever line is yellow. Divide each till price by its count and compare the pence. Neither scheme is a promise that branded pence meets Mamia.
