What does "free" mean for each club?

The word free covers three different things: joining the mailing list, collecting a till bag, and having a box posted. Emma's Diary's gift-pack page (updated 24 July 2026) says membership of its Parenting Club is free and the Mum-to-Be and Bump-to-Baby packs are collected at the till. Your Baby Club's FAQ treats website signup as free, then describes a Welcome Box that starts a monthly Your Baby Box billed at the club's published rate.

Bounty packs and Boots Parenting Club are separate schemes. This page is only the till-pack club versus the posted-box club.

How do you collect Emma's Diary packs versus a Your Baby Club box?

Emma's Diary is a till collection. Your Baby Club's Welcome Box is a posted order that the FAQ ties to a subscription. The club also says you are not automatically sent every partner offer when you register — each offer is claimed on its own instructions.

   Emma's Diary — join Register on emmasdiary.co.uk or the app. The form asks how many children you have and for due date or dates of birth so the club can time packs and emails.

   Emma's Diary — voucher Log in and download or print the voucher. In the app, open the Club page and the gift pack you want so a barcode can be scanned. Official copy lists both routes.

   Emma's Diary — till Take the voucher or barcode to Boots or Argos. Staff scan it and hand over the pack if that store has stock. Contents on the July 2026 page are examples only and 'may differ'.

   Your Baby Club — offers Create an account if you do not have one. Open Personalised Homepage or Member Offers, follow the orange button, and keep a note on My Offers. Partner-site problems go to that partner, not the club, according to the FAQ.

   Your Baby Club — Welcome Box If you order the Welcome Box, read the postage line and the monthly price before you pay. The FAQ says a confirmation and tracking link follow, then an email about the next box around 30 days later, with a £23.99 monthly charge unless you pause or cancel.

What personal data does each signup take?

Both clubs fund samples by matching you to named baby brands. That is the trade, not a hidden extra.

• Emma's Diary. Signup asks for contact details, address, due date or children's dates of birth. The Data FAQs say life-stage data is used to time content, offers and freebies, and that third-party partners are how offers are supplied. Preferences are changed in the website Preference Centre or in the app under the information button. The privacy notice is linked from Emma's Diary Data FAQs.
• Your Baby Club. The FAQ says details go only to brands you choose and that the club does not sell details to unnamed third parties. Communication preferences and account deletion have their own links on that FAQ. Offer claims on partner sites follow that partner's rules.
• Neither is the NHS. Clinical pages sit on NHS Start for Life, not on a club homepage.

The Information Commissioner's 5 November 2018 political-campaigns report records a £140,000 monetary penalty against Lifecycle Marketing (Mother and Baby) Limited, trading as Emma's Diary, under the Data Protection Act 1998. Which club is simpler for a second pregnancy?

Your Baby Club's FAQ is explicit: if you already joined for a first child, do not register again. Log in, open My Account, and change baby details under Answers. Emma's Diary's gift-pack terms, checked 10 September 2026, still limit samples to the UK and to one Sample per customer. Listing a later child's date of birth retimes emails; it is not written as a second full set of till packs. So which one is actually free?
