Your Baby Club welcome box: is it postage, then a monthly subscription?
Is the welcome box free, or is it postage plus a subscription?
Your Baby Club's own store page for the welcome box, checked on 10 September 2026, describes the first box as £0 for the products if you pay £9.99 delivery. The same page says that after 30 days a flexi-membership continues at £23.99 a month. That is a paid box club, not a one-off government parcel.
The club FAQ matches the monthly figure: once you have claimed the welcome box you receive an order confirmation, then a tracking link, and around 30 days later an email that the next box is due to ship. The FAQ states the monthly charge is £23.99.
Paying postage is the start of the membership the club describes, unless you use the cancel or pause route in time. The products in the first box are not the same thing as 'no further charges'.

| Item on the club site | Amount shown | Page checked |
|---|---|---|
| Welcome-box delivery (membership path) | £9.99 | store.yourbabyclub.co.uk/pages/your-baby-box |
| Monthly box after about 30 days | £23.99, postage included | Club FAQ and the same store page |
| One-time / guest box (no membership perks) | £24.99 including postage | Same store page (guest column) |
| Club claim for first-box retail value | £70+ on the store page; other club copy says £80+ or £90+ | Club marketing on the store pages — not an independent check |
A separate single-purchase product page still advertises a free limited-edition box if you only pay shipping, and it repeats the £23.99 / month membership. If you want one box and no ongoing charge, the guest column on the store page is the path the club labels as £24.99 including postage with no membership perks — confirm that is what the basket actually shows before you pay.
How do I cancel before the monthly charge?
The club FAQ is the page that describes the gap between 'cancel anytime' marketing and the account control you actually have in the first weeks.
- Keep the confirmation email The FAQ says correspondence for the box, including tracking, goes to the email on the Shopify customer account. That address may differ from the email you use to log into Your Baby Club. Search for Your Baby Club, including junk.
- Open My Purchases or the email links The FAQ says you manage the monthly subscription under My Purchases in the Your Baby Club account, or via links in the order-confirmation emails.
- If the welcome box has not arrived, email — do not wait for the in-account button The FAQ states you will not be able to cancel the subscription yourself until the free welcome box has been delivered. It tells you to email [email protected] if you want to cancel sooner.
- If the box has already shipped, read the returns page The FAQ says an order that has already shipped cannot be cancelled at that stage, and points you to the club returns policy. The club says you pay the cost and risk of sending unused goods back.
- Watch the day-30 reminder The FAQ and store page say the club emails before the next box ships. Treat that reminder as the last easy point to pause or cancel in the account if you still want the welcome box but not a second box.
GOV.UK's distance-selling guidance says traders must tell customers how to cancel and, for many distance contracts, that the customer can cancel up to 14 days after delivery without giving a reason. There are listed exceptions, including some low-value contracts. The club FAQ is not a substitute for those rules or for the checkout terms you ticked.
What cancellation rights sit outside the club FAQ?
GOV.UK distance selling requires clear information on price, the length of the contract, billing, and how to cancel. For many distance sales it also describes a 14-day cancel right after delivery. If the trader does not tell the customer about that right, GOV.UK says the customer can cancel at any time in the next 12 months, or within 14 days of being told.
The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 are the current statute for that 14-day cooling-off on distance contracts. A later subscription regime in the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 is on the statute book; a April 2026 written ministerial statement said the government expected those extra subscription duties to start in spring 2027. Do not treat 2027 rules as already in force.
The club FAQ also warns about Facebook pages that impersonate Your Baby Club. It says official adverts go to www.yourbabyclub.co.uk and that the club does not take money unless you have agreed a Your Baby Box subscription or a limited-edition box. Unrecognised charges are a bank and Action Fraud matter, not a 'membership perk'.
In shortRead the basket as postage now and £23.99 later unless you cancel. If you decide during the wait for the first box, the club's own FAQ says email [email protected] because the in-account cancel is locked until delivery. After delivery, use My Purchases or the email links, and keep GOV.UK's 14-day distance-selling page in mind.
Questions parents ask
- If I only pay £9.99 postage, have I agreed to monthly boxes?
- The club's store page describes the £9.99 delivery path as the start of a flexi-membership that continues at £23.99 a month after 30 days, unless you pause or cancel. The checkout terms in front of you are the contract. If you want one box only, look at the guest / single-purchase price the club listed at £24.99 including postage.
- Why can I not cancel in my account yet?
- The club FAQ says you cannot cancel the subscription yourself until the welcome box has been delivered. It tells you to email [email protected] to cancel sooner. Include the order number, name and postcode if you have them.
- Does the club send a reminder before it takes £23.99?
- The FAQ says that around 30 days after the welcome box it emails to say the next box is due to ship, and that it sends reminders before payments. A reminder is not the same as a cancel confirmation — check My Purchases after you ask to stop.
- Who can sign up?
- The FAQ says anyone expecting a baby or with a child under 5 can sign up, including a mum, dad, adoptive or foster parent, or a grandparent on the parents' behalf, and that membership is restricted to people over 18.
