Which Motorola parent units accept a second camera?

The English VM64 Connect and VM85 Connect user guides (Motorola Nursery PDFs) describe add / delete / view / scan camera control and up to four camera locations. Multi-camera retail packs are named VM64-2 / VM85-2 (and -3 / -4) because extra baby units ship in the box. A spare camera is not universal Motorola kit. The first camera in the box is pre-registered. You only repeat add if that link died, or you are attaching a genuine extra unit. Wi-Fi app setup on Connect models is a separate job and is not required for parent-unit pairing.

Why will the new camera not show PAIR OK?

• Wrong family — VM85 add-on on a VM64 handset (or any MBP / non-Connect unit).
• Slot still starred — you tried to overwrite a live registration; delete first.
• Cam still married to another parent unit — manuals: one parent at a time; re-registering here cancels the old handset.
• PAIR held on the wrong control — underside vs rear differs by model.
• Units too far apart or not powered — both need their supplied adapters during pair.

Deal sites sometimes list two-camera Motorola bundles. A bundle that is already VM85-2 is simpler than mixing a random spare. Compatibility is still the model name on the plastic, not the word “Motorola” on the box.

Does the phone app replace the second-camera steps?

No. VM64 / VM85 Connect can also join the Motorola Nursery app, but the English guides still register cameras on the parent unit with add + PAIR. Which? treats VM85 Connect as a video monitor that also has Wi-Fi — useful context, not a pairing shortcut. If you only care about a second nursery on the handset, finish the steps above before you open the app.
