How do I check a used Babysense Max View listing for the MVRX recall?

What does OPSS 2604-0191 name, and what does it leave out?

The Office for Product Safety and Standards published Product Recall: Babysense Max View Wireless Digital Video Baby Monitor (2604-0191) on 8 May 2026. The product is the wireless digital video set: parent-unit screen, camera, and the AC adapters used to charge them. The published hazard is a risk of fire: the battery inside the parent unit (model reference YC6048115P) may overheat during charging and that overheating may escalate into thermal runaway.

The notice asks consumers to stop using an affected product immediately and to use the Hisense / recallsecure page to see whether the parent unit is in scope and to register for a replacement parent unit. Selling a recalled product knowingly can be an offence under UK product-safety law.

How do I read MVRX on a used Facebook or Vinted set?

Amazon pulled the named ASINs. Used copies still appear on Facebook Marketplace, Vinted and local groups, often titled “Babysense Max View” with a photo of the camera only.

Hisense’s recallsecure checker, checked 10 September 2026, says only serials starting MVRX2 are eligible on that form, and that MaxView Pro and any other Babysense model are not on that recall. Enter the full string the form asks for. Do not invent a prefix.

   Match the model line if you can see it The notice names VBM55RX. A listing that only says “Babysense video monitor” is not enough to apply or to dismiss 2604-0191.

Why do OPSS and recallsecure word the prefix differently?

OPSS writes beginning with MVRX. Hisense’s English checker writes MVRX2 for eligibility and tells you serials are verified against manufacturing records. Report both as published. If the sticker is worn and you can only read “MVRX”, you have enough to treat the unit as in the OPSS range and to type whatever remains into the Hisense form. If you can read no serial at all, you cannot apply this notice.

A serial that does not begin MVRX is outside 2604-0191. The notice itself says other models and ASINs are out of scope. That is not an all-clear for the battery, the charger, or a later notice.

Is the camera or a spare USB plug in this recall?

The named part is the parent unit and the battery inside it. The product description still includes the camera and the AC adapters because that is how the set was sold. A used listing that swaps in a no-name USB brick is a different charging arrangement from the one in the notice — and the published hazard is overheat during charging. This page does not pick a replacement adapter.

What if recallsecure says the serial is not eligible?

Then Hisense’s form does not list that string for a replacement parent unit. Re-read the sticker; a mistyped character fails the manufacturing-record check. Search Babysense and VBM55RX on the GOV.UK list in case the notice is updated. The Lullaby Trust’s position is that a monitor is not a substitute for safer-sleep practice.
