Do I need a Clubcard for the Tesco baby-event prices?

Yes for the event discount as currently described. MoneySavingCentral says Tesco moved the baby event and the F&F clothing cut so that only Clubcard holders see the lower price. You swipe the card in store or stay logged in online. A Clubcard is free to join; without it you pay the shelf price next to the yellow ticket.

That is the opposite of Aldi. Mamia pack prices on 10 September 2026 (for example Extra Sensitive wipes 60s at 59p, Size 1 nappies 24s at 75p, Stage 1 milk 800g at £6.99) did not need an app. A Tesco event line that looks "half price" on a deal site is a Clubcard price until you read the ticket.

Grocery Gazette (20 August 2026) said Tesco's Fred & Flo 4-for-3 ran until 7 September in larger stores and online, excluded home and nursery, and was unavailable in Express. On 10 September that particular promo had ended. The next baby event is a new ticket, not a rollover.

Does Which? say Tesco with a Clubcard beats Aldi on baby kit?

No. Which?'s monthly supermarket comparison is a food and household basket, not a nappy-and-wipes event shop. In August 2026 it put Aldi at £159.36, Tesco with a Clubcard at £189.45, and Tesco without a Clubcard at £192.97, on an average of 92 items. Loyalty cuts that month were 19 Tesco lines on that list — not a baby-aisle scorecard.

So "shop Aldi every week" still matches the grocery evidence. "Wait for Tesco" only matches when a named Clubcard ticket on Pampers, Tommee Tippee or Fred & Flo undercuts the brand or own-label you already use. Baby Event UK's latest spotted list (Clubcard prices such as Fred & Flo newborn nappies at £2.20 and Easy Fit pants at £5.80) is a snapshot of one event, not a standing Aldi comparison.

What should I buy at Tesco, and what should I keep buying at Aldi?

• Aldi, any week — Mamia nappies, wipes and formula at the shelf price. Specialbuys muslins, a change mat or books only if they were already on the list.
• Tesco during a live Clubcard event — branded feeding kit, a Fred & Flo 4-for-3 (when that ticket is live), F&F baby clothes if a 25% Clubcard window is running on those lines.
• Tesco between events — only if you prefer that brand or that store is your weekly shop. The August Fred & Flo relaunch is a range refresh, not a permanent event price.
• Sleep and travel kit — compare the label with NHS and Lullaby Trust lists. An event ticket does not change those checks.
